Old-fashioned as we may appear to be, we are really a modern square dance club with the latest technology, including a Williams Sound System! So if you have FM Willians receivers, bring them, they will work here! And if you don't, but sometimes have trouble hearing the caller, we have a few Willians receivers at the front desk, you can use one and hear crystal- clear sound straight from the caller.
Driving Directions: Approaching Oakhurst from the south, Highway 41 to the second light in Oakhurst, there turn right onto Road 426 (Crane Valley Road), go past one light about 2 blocks, turn right onto Road 425B. (You pass Sierra Telephone and Mountain Comforts, but if you come to a second light on Road 426 you've gone too far).  On 425B go about 2 blocks, turn right and go up a little hill into the Community Center parking lot.
From Mariposa and points west and northwest, follow Highway 49 to Oakhurst, turn left at the light at the END of 49, that will be Highway 41, turn right at the next light onto Road 426 and proceed as above.

Square dancing is a year-round activity.   Well duhh :-) that's because we have a nice warm hall to square dance in - and air conditioned in summer!   And now, after a cold, wet spring, we are warming up rapidly here in the mountains - and before long the dog days of summer will make us long for the cold and the wet.   But not in our air-conditioned dance hall.   Because on July 14, we will have an (admittedly belated) Independence Day celebration of The Red, White & Blue with guest caller Rick Hampton.   Anyone overheated from that will have to wait but four days, then on Sunday July 18 we will have our Short Pants Dance with guest caller Bill Silver, and lots of ice cream sundaes- and we'll dance in short pants! Yum, yum!   Bear in mind, the Sunday dance is in the afternoon; lines starting at 1:30 p.m., and squares starting at 2:30.   Moving right along with the summer, on Saturday August 7 it's up to Wawona in Yosemite for our annual Wawona Picnic and Barn Dance!   Imagine! a picnic by the Merced River, followed by a square dance in the Wawona Barn!   Lots of visitors to Yosemite get exposed to square dancing for the first time here.   Back at Oakhurst Community Center - yes, OCC but you will think maybe you are aboard a cruise ship on August 11 as we have our Cruise Night with some dressed in casual cruise clothes, others dressed for the Captain's Dinner - and all making their own Banana Splits! Yum, Yum!   And finally, to wind up the summer, we will have our Indian Summer Party Night on September 8 with guest caller Ben Goldberg!
If you are but a beginner at square dancing, a member of our class, you will find that the early part of the evening are class or "all dance" tips.   Then, later, the plus dancers take over.   The exception to this are the special party nights; there, all-dance and plus tips alternate, with line dances between each tip, regardless of which it is.   You may have other questions about our club or about square dancing; if so see our FAQ Page.   If you still have questions, contact us by e-mailing golddustdancers@yahoo.com .

You will find that experienced dancers join the squares with the newbies.   We are a dominant teaching club for all of the Sierra and Central California.   From new calls, to old time square dance calls, square dancing today dances to a world standard and the key to it is in the square dancing sessions.   Great opportunity!

Here we are, doing what we love to do best . . .

Line dancing is also a favorite for us. This took place during our Chinese New Year dance.

Scrumptious goodies on our party nights are also something we look forward to. This one was on our Irish Potato dance night .

And here we are, most of us, at the California State Square Dance Convention in Fresno . . .

. . . .where we danced the evenings away among hundreds of square dancers from all over California.
